
Owner/Funeral Director/Embalmer
Joy Herndon is a life-long resident of George County. She is the daughter of Blane and Ann Davis and a 1999 Graduate of George County High School. Joy received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Mississippi State University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. After receiving a Master’s Degree from the University of South Alabama, she pursued Funeral Service Technology at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Joy is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Mississippi and Alabama. Joy also holds a Full Life Insurance Producer license. She received her Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) designation in 2015. This distinction is awarded by the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice which signifies a commitment to raise and improve the professional standards of funeral service practice and pursue life-long learning. In addition to various community involvement organizations, Joy’s time outside of funeral service is spent with her husband, Jeff, and their children, Easton and Hadley.

Jeff is originally from Greene County. He is the son of the late Lyman “Buddy” and Jean Herndon of the Unity Community. He is a 1993 Graduate of Greene County High School. Jeff pursed drafting and design at Jones County Junior College. He also successfully completed Lineman School and worked for some time with the Power Association. Jeff spent several years surveying with a local company as well as working inside Chevron Refineries in Pascagoula, Mississippi. He also worked in a Quality Control position at American Tank and Vessel shop in Lucedale, Mississippi. He and Joy have been married since 2003. Jeff spends a lot of his time with the couple’s two children, Easton and Hadley.
Funeral Director / Pre-Arrangement Counselor
Tyler Rouse is married to Cassandra Rouse and is the nephew of Jeff and Joy Herndon. Tyler is a 2017 graduate of George County High School and received his Associate Degree in Business Administration from Jones County Junior College in 2019. He is the Head of our Pre-Arrangement department and is a licensed Funeral Director. Tyler enjoys spending time with family, watching sports especially the Atlanta Braves, and playing disc golf.

Funeral Director
Dr. Stephen Crigler has been married to his wife Blair since 2004 and the couple have three awesome kids. For the past 14 years, he has been preaching full time for the Rocky Creek Church of Christ. He also has received his Doctorate degree in counseling with which he hopes to be able to use to continue to help meet the needs of others during their times of trials.
Funeral Director
Bro. Mitch Osborne is an ordained Baptist Minister and has been leading worship at Ridglea Heights Baptist Church since 2001. He has been married to his childhood sweetheart, Sandy, since 1982 and has three grown children, Ricky, Logan and Katy and five awesome grandchildren. Bro. Mitch serves as a Funeral Director and Assistant at Moments Funeral Home as his schedule allows.
Office Manager
Angie is the daughter of the late Thomas L. "T.L." and Laverne Shepheard Smith and is a lifelong resident of George County. She is married to Glenn Moffett and has three daughters, Samantha Clark, Lillie Moffett and Kaylie Moffett and one grandson, Memphis Montgomery. Angie spends her free time reading and spending time with her family.
Funeral Assistant
Chris Smith, a lifelong resident of Lucedale, MS, and a 1999 graduate of George County High School, joined the Moments Funeral Home team in January 2024. He and his wife, Sarah, were married in 2009 and are blessed with six children.
Known for his ministry through his singing group, Big Blessin’, and his leadership in worship at Macedonia Baptist Church, Chris is deeply passionate about serving others. As a two-time cancer survivor, he often says, “Our community has been so good to me; I am honored to serve and minister to them in their time of need.”
In addition to his role at Moments, Chris and Sarah are licensed insurance agents, further demonstrating their commitment to supporting families in the community.
Administrative Professional
Shelly is the daughter of Carolyn Jones and the late John T. Jones, from Lucedale, and has been a lifelong resident of George County. She has been married to her husband, Gary, for 34 years and is the proud mother of two daughters, Megan and Kaitlyn, and grandmother to five grandsons: Luke, Colten, Trent, Jeremiah, and Braedon. She is a 1990 graduate of George County High School. With a career spanning 25 years in education, Shelly has served as both a Special Needs Assistant Teacher Aide and a School Cafeteria Manager. Additionally, she has held various management roles in the restaurant industry across the United States while her husband worked for the U.S. Forest Service. Shelly is also an active member of Mosaic Church in Ocean Springs. She considers it both an honor and privilege to serve the families within her community. Shelly enjoys spending her free time crafting, traveling, cooking, and, most importantly, cherishing time with her family.
Hostess
Pennie is the daughter of Kenneth and Kathia Davis and a life-long resident of George County. She graduated from George County High School in 1987. Pennie and her husband, Stevie, have been married since October 1987 and have three children, Emily (Allen) Poole, Garrett (Jessie) Taylor and Kaci Taylor. They also have four grandchildren, Kambree, Kinslee, Kennedy, and Kip. She and her family are faithful members of Antioch Missionary Baptist church. Pennie spends her free time enjoying the simple country life of Brushy Creek with family and friends.
Youth Administrator
Easton is the son of Jeff and Joy Herndon. He is currently enrolled in the George County School District. He enjoys hunting, fishing, Mississippi State football, other outdoor sports, and working out at the local gym. He is an active member of the Rocky Creek Church of Christ, where he participates in the youth program. Easton is honored to be part of the Moments' staff and serves where needed.
Social Butterfly
Hadley Herndon is the youngest child of Jeff and Joy. She is a student at Central Elementary in the George County School District. She loves decorating the funeral homes and attending social events. She welcomes our visitors into the facility and makes everyone feel loved. We greatly enjoy having her here when her busy schedule allows it.
Bookkeeping
Ann N. Davis is a life-long resident of George County. Originally Ann Nicholson from the Cooks Corner area, her parents are the late Mr. JR and Mrs. Faye Baynes Nicholson. Ann and Blane have owned and operated Country Farms Quail & Smokehouse in Rocky Creek for over 20 years. She is a faithful member of the Church of Christ and worships with fellow Christians at the Hurley congregation. Ann has three daughters, Tina, Tara and Joy. She has 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.
Groundskeeper
Blane Davis is a life-long resident of George County. He was born and raised in Buzzard Roost, Mississippi to the late Mr. Gordy and Mrs. Sybil Adams Davis. He comes from a large family with 13 siblings. Blane and Ann Davis have owned and operated Country Farms Quail & Smokehouse in Rocky Creek for over 20 years. Blane is a member of the Hurley Church of Christ. He and Ann have three daughters, Tina, Tara and Joy and 4 grandchildren.
Certified Grief Counselor
Diane Burch is a resident of Mobile, Alabama. She is a graduate of Faulkner University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Resources and her Masters of Science in Management. She is also a Certified Grief Counselor with the American Institute of Health Care Professionals. Diane is employed full-time as the Registrar at Mobile Christian School, a K3-12 private school located on Cottage Hill Road in West Mobile. Diane and her husband, Larry, who have been married since 1979, enjoy their time together at Bellingrath Road Church of Christ in Theodore, Alabama, working with the community. They are also involved in mission work with the Sojourners.
