Woodie Mitchel Dixon, age 72, passed away August 1, 2024. He enjoyed bar-b-qing, playing softball, and ONLY spending time with his grandsons. This includes picking weeds and any other thing they wanted to do. He and Margaret met at the horse shows in 1971 where they participated in the categories of timed events, halter, and roping. He was employed for 52 years as an inside machinist at Southern Fastner and Parkway Machine and Metal Works. He taught Sunday school at Refuge Methodist Church and First Church of Lucedale for over 50 years and his knowledge of scripture was astounding. He was servant and a very humble and kind man who will be greatly missed by all who were honored to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred “Pete” and Thellis Lewis Dixon.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Dixon; children, Daniel (Erin) Dixon and Carmen (Mike) Johnson; grandchildren, Ladner Davis (Mallory Rich), Taite Davis, Finn Dixon, and Jonah Dixon; siblings, Al (Barabra) Dixon and Deborah Howell; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
The Visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at First Church of Lucedale from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. The funeral service will begin at 7:00 PM with Bro. David Newton and Bro. Dean Box officiating. A private burial will be in Refuge Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Derrick Scott, Hank Cochran, Ronnie Miller, Garth Parnell, Larry McDonald, and Phillip Cochran. Honorary Pallbearers include Paul Stanley, Tom Parker, George McIntosh, Eric Hill, Jimmy Davis, and Frank Cochran.
