Wayne Roy Davis

Wayne Roy Davis of the Rocky Creek Community in Lucedale, MS, was born June 8, 1948, the youngest son of Willie O. and Lucy Jane (Dees) Davis and passed on May 27, 2024. Roy was a devoted husband, father, stepfather and Pawpaw. He found great joy in spending time with his family and friends and attending Rocky Creek Baptist Church.

Roy Served in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was very patriotic and proudly displayed the American Flag and loved his country that it represents. He worked in the construction industry for many years as an Electrical Superintendent, later carrying on the family business as owner of Davis Insulation. 

In retirement, Roy, his wife, Martha and their beloved traveling companion Bandit, enjoyed many adventures as they traveled across this beautiful land. Roy was also a music lover and treasured his collection. His favorites included classic country, western bluegrass and old-time southern gospel. He and Martha enjoyed attending live music festivals and events. Most of all, Roy loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He found great comfort and peace in knowing that he would be welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie Oscar and Lucy Jane (Dees) Davis; sisters, Lucy Yvonnne (Frank) Danley, Voncille (Johnny) Williams, Ellen Lucille (J.L) Pearman, and Myrtle Lee (Ray) Marshall; brothers, Willie Jr. “Tarbaby” (Myrtis) Davis, Odie Davis, Charlie Harrison “C.H” (Linda Davis), and Jessie Frank (Peggy) Davis.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Martha Rogers Davis; daughter, Robyn Davis; stepdaughters, Ellen Brown, and Susan Moore Hicks; stepsons, Vince (Jodi) Carlisle, and Wesley (Abbie) Carlisle; brother, Raymond (Dianne) Davis; sister-in-law, Marie Davis; 7 wonderful grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.

The Visitation will be Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Graveside Service will be on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Macedonia Cemetery with Bro. Paul Brashier officiating. Pallbearers include Owen Davis, Marty Davis, Marshall Davis, Gary Davis, Jody Davis, Daryl Wayne Davis, Buddy Ray Marshall, and Kenny Davis. Honorary Pallbearers are his grandsons,Cameron, Zach, Cade, Jamie, and Jacob.
