Vickie McLeod King, 73, of Leakesville, died Monday, January 4, 2021, at Providence Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services are to be held Friday, January 8, 2021 at Moments Funeral Home in Leakesville, MS. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm. Brother Phillip Williams will officiate, and the eulogy given by her grandson Justin Hicks. Pallbearers include Justin Hicks, Gavin Mason, Jeremy Mizell, Jonathon Mizell, Bryan Dearman, and Darrell Woods. Interment will follow in Green Cemetery in the Vernal community.
Vickie, a native of Leakesville, MS was born to Floyd and Mae Dueitt McLeod on November 24, 1947. She graduated from Leakesville High School in 1966 and later pursued college studies in Charleston, South Carolina. She was a lifelong member of Vernal Presbyterian Church in Vernal, MS.
Vickie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was from a large, loving family and spending time with her loved ones was one of her favorite past times. She worked at various entities throughout her life, including Ingalls Shipbuilding, and retired from South Mississippi Correctional Institute.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd & Mae McLeod, her brothers, Reggie McLeod and Johnny McLeod and her sister, Sharon McLeod Hannon.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Jimmy King; her daughters: Sherry (Kenny) Sanders Berthelot of Leakesville, Michelle (Vasile) Sanders Draghici of Midland Texas, Melissa Sanders Tubbs of Leakesville. Stepdaughters: Lisa (Richard) Hale and Jennifer King. Grandchildren: Justin (Brittany) Hicks, Kristen Gisclair, Maggie Mae Duet, Nicolaie (“Nickel”) Catrina. Step grandchildren: Alyssa (Christopher) Brown, Gavin (Myra) Mason, Clancy Smith, Skyler Smith, and Trinity Smith. Great-grandchildren: Scarlett Hicks, Cecilia Hicks, Kiana Gisclair, and Desmond Holden, Jr. Step great-grandchildren: Julian Brown, Callum Brown, Kai Mason, Eli Mason, and Guy Mason. Sisters: Sheila (Mike) Savage, Mary Alice Dearman, and Marie (Mike) Mizell; as well as many nieces, nephews and other loving friends and relatives.
