Shirley Ann Cook Rubino, also known as, Shirlann, Shirley from Hurley, Nana Shirley and Beanie, age 89, passed away March 14th, 2025.
She retired from Jackson County Personal Care home in October 2005. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and family. She was an avid member of Antique Angels and Senior Saints from her beloved church, Full Life Assembly of God. She enjoyed reading her newspaper, bible and Christian Romance novels. She also enjoyed conquering her word search and crossword puzzles. She loved fiddling in the kitchen, cooking and passing along one of her beloved recipes; her sweets and her sweet tooth were as sweet as she was. If you were lucky enough and visited her, you always left with one of her famous jellies, preserves, cakes or pies.
She is preceded in death by her father, Dan T. Cook; mother, Grace Jones Cook; son, Thomas Carl Rubino, Jr.; sister, Dannie Lou Jones; friend and father of their children, Thomas C. Rubino Sr.; and let’s not forget her beloved chihuahua, Romeo “Romey”.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Brian Rubino (Tammy Rand); daughter, Jeannette Rubino (John Perryman); adopted daughter, Sue Johns; adopted son, Jimmy White; grandchildren, Krystl (Cody) Snyder, Brad (Ann) Rubino, Haylee Rubino (Sayvon) Newton, Hannah James, Isaac James, Rachel James, and Olyvia Perryman; adopted granddaughter, Raven Boyd; great grandchildren, Cade, Corbyn and Kenzy Mae Snyder and Kyleigh and Gavin Rubino; sisters, Corma Lee Carter of Hurley, Mississippi and Alta Grace Lovell of Transylvania, Louisiana; longtime Hlhigh school friend, Barbara Callander of Luling, Louisiana; grand pups: Piper, Jax, Pippy, Ziggy, Roxy, Babygirl, Luna and Daisy; a host of nieces and nephews.
The Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Full Life Church in Hurley, Mississippi. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, March 19, 2025 beginning at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Jimbo Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Springs Assembly of God Cemetery. Pallbearers include Dane Lovell, Danny Lovell, Melroy Slider, Keith Slider, Larry Carter, Mike Callender. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy White and Sayvon Newton.
