Sadie Rodgers Obituary

Sadie Lee Bell Rodgers, age 95, originally from Marks, Mississippi finished preparing her Sunday lunch on February 23, 2025, then shortly thereafter slipped away to her home in Heaven. She was a resident of Hurley, Mississippi after moving there in 1996.

She was known by those in Hurley as Ms. Sadie, Aunt Sadie, a spiritual mother and friend. For her family and their friends, it was Grandmother and MeMaw.

After retirement and until Sunday, February 23, 2025, she spent her time gardening, canning, crocheting, and being the salt and light as she was an avid prayer warrior, a spiritual mentor and following her greatest love, Jesus Christ.

Grandmother is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Rubin Edward “Son” Rodgers; sons, Jimmy Edward Rodgers, Richard Foster “Ricky” Rodgers; twin sister, Sally Lou Bell White; granddaughter, J’Linda Abel Hardwick.

She leaves behind a daughter, Rhonda Rodgers Summerlin (Phillip) of Florence, Mississippi; daughter-in-love, Linda Rodgers Massengill (Jimmy) of Baldwyn, Mississippi; nephew/caregiver, Jimmy White of Hurley, Mississippi; niece, Lynn Foster Vineyard of Mobile, Alabama; 4 grandchildren, Jason Rodgers of Nashville, Tennessee, Jamie Rodgers (Lisa) of Columbus, Mississippi, Wesley Summerlin (Lynsey) of Raymond, Mississippi, and Heather Shultz of Clinton, Mississippi; 8 great grandchildren, Jordan Rodgers of Nashville, Tennessee, Jonathan Abel (Natalie) of Florence, Mississippi, Peyton Rodgers of Starkville, Mississippi, Meg Rodgers and Hart Rodgers of Columbus, Mississippi, Carter Shutlz and Morgan Shutlz of Clinton Mississippi, and Weslyn Summerlin of Raymond, Mississippi; and many great nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Magnolia Springs Assembly of God Church from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 PM. Interment will be at Marks Cemetery in Marks, Mississippi, alongside her late husband.
