Ruth Graham, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, surrounded by her family. She got her Associate's Degree in Business from Jones County Junior College. She spent over 30 years in the banking industry. She was from Helena, Mississippi and was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church for 23 years, where she taught Sunday school until she was 90 years old, and a prayer warrior for many. In her early years she greatly enjoyed cake decorating, floral arranging, being a member of eastern star, and dabbling in real estate sales. Her whole life she had a passion for reading. She was a 25-year breast cancer survivor and spent her retirement years traveling with her husband in their RV before his passing. But most importantly, she loved her family and all through her life she maintained a constant faith. Her main goal in life was to see all her family come to the saving knowledge through Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who had the honor to know her.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Dean Graham; parents, Walter Lee and Lillie Mae Johnson Cheeks; siblings, Bro. Raymond Cheeks, Edward “Ed” (Margie) Cheeks, and Dorothy “Dot” (R.L.) Kellum.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Melinda (Nicky) Bounds and Judy (Tim) Babcock; grandchildren, Beverly (Edward) Bonham, Leslie Guidry, Claire Babcock, Aaron Babcock, Grace Babcock; great grandchildren, John Bonham, Jordan Bonham, Jeremiah Guidry, and Lillie Guidry; sisters-in-law, Faye Cheeks, Joyce Stacklin, and Gloria Jay; numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The Visitation will be Friday, May 16, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Temple Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with Brother David Williams officiating. Graveside will follow in Welch-Graham Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to Temple Baptist Church in Moss Point. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.
