Ruby Norstedt Obituary

Ruby Fowler Norstedt, age 85, native of Columbia, Tennessee, and long-time resident of Mobile, Alabama, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 7, 2022. She loved the Lord with all of her heart, all of her soul and all of her strength.  She was an active and faithful member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and Cottage Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and participated in the choir.  She was a selfless servant of the Lord, avid studier of the Word of God and prayer warrior. She faithfully loved, honored and cared for her beloved husband, Dr. Axel Norstedt, Jr., for 64 years, and was a humble and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, exemplifying a true Proverbs 31 woman.  She served outside of her home by participating in Meals on Wheels, Moms Encouraging Moms, Christian Women’s Club, Mobile Tennis Association, among other things.  She was a dear friend to many, ready and willing to give of her time and share an encouraging word.  She truly was a treasure to all who had the honor of knowing her and her contagious smile and joy will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Axel Norstedt, Jr.; parents, Charles and Mildred Fowler; sister, Sarah Elizabeth Dawson; brother, Charles Oscar Fowler.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Elizabeth Lynn (Herman) Fountain, Dr. David Axel (Donna) Norstedt and Mark Alan Norstedt; grandchildren, Sean (Brie) VanHorn, Adam (Amanda) VanHorn, Ryan (Lauren) VanHorn, Elizabeth (Dustin) Namirr, Nicholas (Lizzie) VanHorn, Brandon (Ashley) Norstedt, Davelyn (Joshua) Scott, Ashley Anna Norstedt, Emily Norstedt and Noel Norstedt; 19 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
