Rev. Roy Allen Winstead, age 90, passed away September 22, 2025. He was a retired United Methodist Minister and served at many churches in central and south Mississippi. He also served as a chaplain for Sta-Home hospice company for over 10 years. His impact will be felt in countless communities and churches all over the southeast for many years to come. He will be greatly missed by everyone whom he came into contact with over his life.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean Winstead; daughter, Jacqueline Hanks Jones; parents, Edwin Howard and Sarah Louvie Winstead; siblings, Agnes Winstead Griffith, Helen Winstead Parish, Edwin Harold Winstead, and an infant brother; nephew, Kenny Parish; niece, Laura Parish Harvey.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved daughter, Nancy (Roy) Hanks Bellande; grandchildren, Kristi (Toabo) Tooki and Skylar Arthur; great grandchildren, Siera Cockrell, Alexandra Cockrell, Caden Arthur and Addison Arthur Russel; great-great grandchildren, Elijah and Annamaria; nieces, Jane, Gail, and Sarah; nephews, Howard, Hugh, and Davis; numerous other relatives and friends.
The Graveside Service will be Wednesday, September 24, 2025 in Magnolia Cemetery beginning at 11:00 AM with Rev. David Newton officiating.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Sparrow Hills for their kindness and compassion during his stay there. As well as a thanks to Gentiva hospice.
