Raymond C. Shields, Sr.

Raymond C. Shields, age 86, passed away May 1, 2025.  He retired from Ingalls in 2001 after over 30 years as a Gantry Operator. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge 1120 as well as GWRRA Chapter B. He traveled all over the United States on his motorcycle.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna Shields; parents, Cleo Pittman Shields and Earl Leroy Shields; brothers, James Shields and Henry Shields.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Ray Shields Jr and wife Debi; Laurie Hutchinson and husband Jack, and Brad Shields and wife Sabine; grandchildren, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Brown, Amanda (Jerome) Breaux, Daniel Hutchinson, Salem Shields, Ian Shields, Forrest Shields, and Lexi (Matt) Murdick; 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.      

The Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 8, 2025 beginning at 1:00 PM at St. Lucy Catholic Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
