Rachel Mitchell Baggett Obituary

Rachel Mitchell Baggett, age 80, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. A loving mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and true provider for anyone who had a need. She was a 1964 graduate of Greene County High School. She married the love of her life, Charlie Mitchell, on October 23, 1971, and together they began building a beautiful family. When Charlie became ill, she lovingly stepped into the role of caretaker for the entire family, always placing the needs of others before her own. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She was always baking cakes for someone in need, offering comfort and love to others the way she knew best through her own personal cake ministry. She would cook for gatherings as if she was the only one fixing the meal. She enjoyed many crafts, including crocheting and sewing, and had a special love for gardening. Some of her greatest peace and therapy were found riding her lawnmower and spending time caring for her yard. She had a joyful, joking personality and a playful spirit, always keeping those around her laughing with her sense of humor that will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie W. Mitchell, Sr.; parents, David Franklin “Jake” and Nora Edna Knighten McLeod; Infant Child, Nancy Mitchell; grandchild, Jane Mitchell; siblings, AD McLeod, Sam McLeod, Kenneth McLeod, and Loretta Mason.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Willis L. Baggett, Jr.; children, Charlie (Chrissy) Mitchell, Rachelle (Ruben) Rasberry, Rebecca (Wish) Stuckey, and Sarah (Chris) Smith; grandchildren, AnnaGrace Mitchell, Faith Morris, Jacob Rasberry, Joshua (Andrea) Rasberry, William (Abby) Rasberry, Naomi Rasberry, Brooke (Noah) McGill, Charity McGill, Micah Long, Max (Mollie) Smith, Jackson (Kassidy) Smith, Abigail Smith, Ava Claire Smith, Zayne Smith, and Grayson Smith; great grandchildren, Jayce McIlwain, Adeline Rasberry, Charlotte Rasberry, Felicity McGill, Eliana Kate McGill, Everleigh Smith, and Elliott Smith on the way; siblings, Mary Ann Farmer, Charles (Barbara) McLeod; numerous other relatives and friends.
