R. C. Lewis, age 88, passed away peacefully March 22, 2021 after a long battle with cancer. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a Tank Commander. His hobbies include hunting, fishing and watching sports with his boys. He was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church where he served the congregation as a Deacon. He also enjoyed music and sang in a local gospel group who performed at numerous churches in the community. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Elizabeth; parents, Leonard and Marie Williams Lewis; brothers, James Lewis and Billy Gerald Lewis; sisters, Ruth Lewis Presley, Ruby Lewis and Betty Jean Lewis Schulte.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Loree Ball Lewis; sons, Richard C. (Katherine) Lewis and John R. Lewis; grandchildren, Ashly Lewis, Heather (Chris) Rylee, Erica (George King) Lewis, Austin Lewis, Tyler Lewis, Zack Lewis, Alec Lewis and Drew Lewis; Great grandchildren, Paisley Rylee, Rayleigh King and Tuff King; numerous other relatives and friends.
The Visitation for R. C. Lewis will be Friday, March 26, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will follow in the church sanctuary at 2:00 PM with Bro. Rick Brown, Bro. Jason Kitrell and Bro. Walter Mixon officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Baptist Church cemetery 2725 Tom White Rd. Leakesville, Ms. 39451. Pallbearers include Tyler Lewis, Austin Lewis, Lance Wells, Chris Rylee, Dillon Wells and Billy E. Brewer, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Jerry Lee Lewis.
