Patrica Pope Bang, 80 of Lucedale, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born in the Barton Community of George County. She graduated from Basin High School, and married her high school sweetheart, Alton Bang in 1957. She was the daughter of M.L. and Kathleen Pope
She followed in her father’s footsteps as a business owner. She owned and operated a very successful cake decorating business, and later owned Patrica’s Fabrics in Lucedale, where she designed and created custom clothing. She attended the University of South Alabama studying accounting, and later established Patrica’s Tax and Accounting Service. She became an Enrolled Agent with the IRS, and a member of the Mississippi Association of Public Accountants. She also had a farm and enjoyed working with her cows and John Deere tractor.
She was a faithful devoted member of Crossroads Free Pentecostal church where she was very active in multiple ministries throughout the years, such as children and youth, senior adults, and taught Sunday School until two weeks before her death. She was the Secretary and Treasurer for many years for her church as well. Heaven will only know the impact of her unconditional love she gave to so many.
She enjoyed traveling with her family to various destinations. Her legacy includes loving and caring for her many grandchildren and modeling Christian values in their everyday life. The title she was most proud of was Mammy and Nanny. She was known for making birthdays special, including composing her own birthday song that is sung at all family birthday celebrations.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Alton Bang, her parents M.L. and Kathleen Pope, her father and mother-in-law John and Jean Bang, siblings Elwyn Pope and Wanda Pope Parker, and her grandson, Devin Alton Sellers.
She is survived by her daughters, Madeline (Van) Easterling, Kathy (Davis) Sellers, Christine Weiland, her brother Charles (Madelien) Pope. Grandchildren, Chad Stevens of Phoenix, AZ, Kandi (Matthew Helms), Richmond, VA, Bethany Patch, Suanna Kendrick, Ashton (Daniel) Estis, all from Lucedale, Hannah Jamison, Albuquerque, NM, Tiffany (Devin)Sellers of Jackson, and Tori (Harold) Tracy, Grovetown, GA.
Great-grandchildren, Mary Christine, Alli, Riley, and Gavin Helms, Richmond, VA, Matthew, Patrick, Samuel, and Tristan Stevens of Phoenix, AZ, Ella and Ava Patch, Zoe and Jorgia Blankenship, Harlee and Makenzie Estis, Shiloh, Maddie, Eben, and Kase Kendrick, Emma Sellers all of Lucedale, Hayden and soon to be Adalynn Jean Tracy of Grovetown, GA., along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Visitation for Patricia Pope Bang will be Friday, December 17, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Crossroads Free Pentecostal Church. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, December 18, 2021 in the church sanctuary beginning at 11:00 AM with Bro. Warren Slay officiating. Burial will follow in Crossroads Free Pentecostal Church cemetery. Pallbearers include Mike Steede, Robert Miller, Johnny Hayden, Colby Henderson, Hank Cochran, Charlie Flurry, Jimmy Deese and Ben Hare.
