Pamela McDonald

Pamela Kay McDonald passed from this life, at 63 years young, surrounded by family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother (Nene), daughter, sister and loyal friend who will be missed by all. 

At the age of 46, she discovered a passion for running and began what would become an inspiring running career. Determined and driven, she set her sights on competing in and finishing a half-marathon in all 50 states with the 50 state club—a goal she embraced wholeheartedly. Her discipline and determination on the racecourse was a reflection of the same commitment she brought to her personal and professional life. She also enjoyed spending time sharing experiences with those she loved deeply. 

She began her career as a social worker, where her dedication to helping people led her to pursue a Master’s degree and ultimately earn her L.C.S.W. With that accomplishment, she opened her own counseling center, Balanced Life Counseling. 

At the time of her untimely passing, she was an organ donor, continuing her lifelong mission of helping others by giving the gift of life to individuals awaiting transplants. Her selfless generosity lives on through those recipients and stands as a testament to her compassionate spirit. Her legacy continues, not only through those life-saving gifts but in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—each carrying forward the strength, love, and purpose that defined her life.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 38 years, Kevin McDonald; children, Racheal (Wesley) Sims, and Kristyn (Jeff) Robinson; grandchildren, Madalyn Isabel Shoemaker, Yves Shoemaker, Taite Shoemaker, Grant Robinson, Merritt Robinson, and Preslie Allen; great grandchildren, Braelynn Shoemaker, Graeson Wenzel, Caston Thompson, Mylo Shoemaker; father, Walter Sanderson “Sandy” Wright; mother, Susan Gilpin; siblings, Tammy Wright, Patty (Lloyd) Cooley, Karen (Voin McDaniel) Wright, Walter (Tina) Wright, Jr.; numerous other relatives and friends.     

The Visitation will be Friday, March 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Refuge Church. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Dean Box officiating. Burial will follow in Refuge Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Danny Box, Robbie Fairley, Garth Parnell, Grant Robinson, Ray Albritton, and Taite Shoemaker.
