Ola Gene Harless

Ola Gene Harless, age 78, was born on February 9,1947. He passed away May 18, 2025, with his loving family by his side. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and worked for 37 years as an Electrical Foreman for Ingalls Shipbuilding. He was a faithful member of Union Missionary Baptist Church, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and dear friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Occie Ola Harless and Margarett Hilton Harless; parents-in-law, Harold and Dorothea Spicer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Merrie Jo Spicer Harless; daughters, Laurie Jean (Wilmer, Sr.) Lambert, Cindy Diana (Therrel) Smith, and Michele Lee Ann (Brad) Driskell; grandchildren, Wilmer Lambert, Jr., Kimberly Lambert, Matthew (Holly) Smith, Abbie (Broc) Walley, and Cory Driskell; great grandchildren, Sadie Lambert, Caleb Lambert, Aiden Lambert, River Smith, and one on the way; sisters, Nancy (James) Mitchell, Sharline (Jerrill) Dixon, Beth (Jody) Box and Meta (David) Maia; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

The Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Union Missionary Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 22, 2025, beginning at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Alan Eubanks and Bro. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Wilmer Lambert, Sr., Therrel Smith, Brad Driskell, Wilmer Lambert, Jr., Matthew Smith and Cory Driskell, Honorary Pallbearers include Broc Walley, James Mittchell, Jerrill Dixon, Jody Box and David Maia.
