Melvin Lister, Jr.

Melvin Lister, Jr., age 74 passed away peacefully March 18, 2025 with his family by his side. He was a man of many words and a gifted story-teller. He was also a member of the Leakesville Masonic Lodge #420, a loving father, grandfather, brother and true friend with many favorites.   

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Melvin Lister, Sr. and Irma McInnis Lister; sisters, Jancy Lister and Susan Kay Lister Lawrence.     

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Jamie (Bekah) Lister, Vanessa Lister, Deanna Mathis, Suzie Mathis and Becky Lister; grandchildren, Tink (Andrew) Cowart, Brenna (Jake) Mills, Hailey (Chris) Corey, Matthew Lister, Levi (Kaycie) Nawrot, Anna (Rickey) Stewart, Emma Stewart, Elijah (Lillie Bell) Lister, Jacan Dearman, Jaxon Dearman, Mason Lister, Logan Cauley, Landon Cauley, Kylie Jarvis, Rylie Jarvis, Ryder Yates, Everly Yates, Bailey King, Piper King, Gage King and Ensley Howell; great grandchildren, Colter, Dakota, Drake, RayLynn, Magnolia, Brently, Cameron, Noah, Karter, Aaliyah, Dusty, Mia Faye, Weston, and one more on the way; siblings, Joe Cleve Lister, Hardy McInnis (Jo Ann) Lister, Mary Ann Lister-Davis , Dorcas (Willie) McLeod; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.   

The Visitation will be Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home, Leakesville. The Funeral Service will be Monday, March 24, 2025 beginning at 12:00 PM at Vernal Presbyterian Church with Bro. David McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in Green Cemetery. Pallbearers include Levi Nawrot, Matthew Lister, Elijah Lister, Jacan Dearman, Jaxon Dearman, Gage King and Mason Lister. Honorary Pallbearers include Andew Cowart, Daniel Vandiver, and Blaine Eubanks.
