Mary Edna Helton Cooley, age 93, passed away March 12, 2025. She greatly enjoyed her flowers, gardening, and canning. But most importantly, she loved her grand kids and great grand kids. She was known for her famous homemade banana pudding. Unfortunately, she never shared her recipe, and her bananas were never “just right”.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, L.V. Helton and Dan Cooley; son, Laverne Helton; parents, George and Martha Gibson; daughter-in-law, Lois Helton; siblings, Pearlie Dueitt Rush, Minnie Lee Parker, Lula Mae Creech, James Gibson, Woodrow Gibson, and George Gibson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Larry Helton and Debra (Pete) Pierce; daughter-in-law, Sherry Jo Helton; grandchildren, John (Shawn) Helton, Joey (Holli) Helton; Brandon (Maggie) Helton, Seth (Katie) Pierce, Christopher (Maggie) Helton, Keisha (Michael) Volovecky, and Larissa (Calep) Smith; great grandchildren, Dillon, Taylor, Luke, Jolee, Cayson, Canton, Cainen, Coleton, Davis, Bryce, Kendall, Mason, Chloe, Cameron, Kayla, and Sarah; numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Visitation will be Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home, Leakesville. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. William Amacker and Bro. Roger Hickman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Christopher Helton, Brandon Helton, Seth Pierce, John Helton, Joey Helton, and Michael Volovecky.
