Marion Lovelace Obituary

Marion Lovelace passed away on March 10, 2024, at Singing River Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.  He was born on May 9, 1950, in Lucedale, MS.

He worked as a lineman for Singing River EPA until he became medically disabled. When he began working at Singing River, he was nicknamed “Spot” because his supervisor said he reminded him of his old hound dog that was named “Spot”.  The rest of his life he was called “Spot” by his closest friends and “PawPaw Spot” by his beloved grandchildren.

Throughout his entire life, “Spot” was a servant to his community and church.  After he became sick and had to retire, he continued contributing as much as he could by helping with electrical work and anything else needed by his friends and church, D’Iberville Christian Assembly.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Janice Lovelace; brother, Woodie Lovelace; niece, Lissa Strazi; stepson, Lavoise Redmond Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory include the mother of his children and dear friend, Ina Lovelace; children, Stephen (Callie) Lovelace, Tracy (Jr.) Strickland, Dwayne (Tien) Lovelace, and Cristy (Bobby) Lovelace-Gordon; grandchildren, Jordan Lovelace, Emma Ezell, Sadie, Tripp, and Nick Strickland, and Sara, Seth, and Rachel Lovelace; niece, Wendy (Kelly) Ray and her children Drew and Maddox.  He is also survived by a host of cousins and his extended family, Carol Redmond and her children and grandchildren.

The Visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Moments Funeral Home in Lucedale, MS. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. James King, Bro. Jr. Strickland, and Bro. Michael Cotton officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
