Lloyd Gibson

Lloyd Dewey Gibson, age 66, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025. He dedicated much of his career to Ingalls Shipbuilding as a test engineer, where he was respected for his sharp intellect, innovative spirit, and skilled craftsmanship. A true jack of all trades, Lloyd could build, fix, or figure out just about anything.

He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Justin Lloyd Gibson; his parents, Earl Edsel Gibson and Lydia Ann McDowell Gibson; and his brother, Ricky Gibson.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Susanna (Britton) Womack and Alecia (Jerrod) Turner; his daughter-in-law, Diana Gibson; and his cherished grandchildren: Noah Barton, Riley Barton, Roman Womack, Ava Womack, Makenley Turner, Halleigh Mixon, Anniston Mixon, Mason Gibson, Grayson Gibson, and Jackson Gibson.

A true outdoorsman at heart, Lloyd found peace in nature. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing—pastimes that brought him joy, reflection, and a deep connection to the world around him.

He was also a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan, cheering on his team through every season with unwavering loyalty and passion.

A private celebration of life will be held with family to honor Lloyd’s memory.
