Funeral services for Linda Brannan McLeod, 83, of Lucedale will be held at Moments Funeral Home Chapel, Lucedale, MS, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 11a.m. with visitation immediately preceding at 10 a.m. Linda died peacefully in her long-time home in the Beaver Dam Community on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
Born on August 1, 1942, Linda was the fifth of thirteen children born to James O. and Norma (Holland) Brannan of Citronelle, AL, and later of the Brushy Creek Community. Growing up in George County, Linda graduated in 1960 at the top of her class from Rocky Creek School, which back then included grades 1-12. She then attended the University of Southern Mississippi and graduated with a degree in chemistry and biology. She taught school in the 1960s for several years, and then she became a homemaker. Later she returned to the classroom at George County High School for a number of years, once all of her children were in school. She primarily taught Physics and Chemistry and the occasional Biology class. She retired after her first grandchild was born in 1999. Later in life, she always celebrated stories of her successful students that she had taught many years earlier.
Linda married the love of her life, Kenneth A. McLeod, in March 1965. They shared 57 years of marriage before his death in 2022. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved growing vegetables in her huge garden and turning those into delicious meals for her family. She was a quintessential Southern hostess to many around her large table over the years. She also loved growing beautiful flowers, including roses, gladioli, and daylilies, in her expansive yard.
A woman of deep convictions, Linda served her Lord faithfully at Rounsaville Missionary Baptist Church as long as she was physically able. She loved listening to CDs of favorite area ministers on Sunday mornings, as well as joining in the many impromptu "sings" by her family in her home when she was no longer able to attend church services. She not only studied the Bible diligently but also lived a life that honored her Lord and Savior. Her strong faith will be remembered by all her family and friends who knew her well.
She is survived by her four children Lindell (Jim) Klebesadel of Chugiak, AK; Alicia (Michael) Holloman of Lucedale, MS; Kenneth Allen McLeod, II (Jennifer) of Chugiak, AK; and Suzanne (Marcus) McBride of Pensacola, FL; seven grandchildren Grace (Seth) Cooke, Andrew (Madison) Holloman, Ryan Holloman, Hannah Klebesadel, Emma Klebesadel, Lindsey McLeod, and Leah McLeod; three great-grandchildren Georgia, Vincent, and Audrey; brothers Marshall, Kenneth, and Stephen Brannan; sisters Nona Sweet, Donna Turner, and Teresa Rhodes; and a number of adoring nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth A. McLeod; parents James O. and Norma H. Brannan; brothers Jimmy Brannan, John Paul Brannan, Michael Brannan, Timothy Brannan, and sisters Sharon Eubanks, and Lula Eckhoff.
Officiating the services will be Brother William Amacker and Brother Brandon Hartfield. Interment will be in Brannan Cemetery in the Brushy Creek Community of George County. Pallbearers include Keith Newbill, Nathan Brannan, Luke Brannan, David Brannan, Derrick Newbill, and Morgan Farmer.
