Larry Grover Tanner

Larry Grover Tanner, age 69, passed away April 13, 2023. He worked as a welder at Ingalls Shipbuilding for over 20 years. He enjoyed planting gardens, working in his yard and going to church. He attended Movella Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and dear friend.              

He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Charlene Butler Tanner; parents, Elmer Cleveland Tanner and Malbelin Pierce Tanner; brother, Ora Denson “Toby” Tanner.      

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Wendy Elaine Tanner, Frederick Lee Tanner and Ora Allen Tanner; step-daughters, Amy Michaelea Butler and Annie Ruth Chang; grandchildren, Gabriel Jesse McClure, Hannah Lynn-Nichole Tanner, Madison Tanner, Elijah Mikahi Kennedy, Kendall Lance Dixon, Jackie Sue Tanner, Elizabeth Rose Tanner, Ella Ranslie Kennedy, Timberlynn Tanner and Tanner Piercen Reid Howard; sister, Thelma Louise Killian; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.                       

The Visitation will be Monday, April 17, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Michael Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Movella Missionary Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers include Eli Kennedy, Kendall Dixon, James Dearing, Johnny Dearing, Aaron Britt and Joe Dearing.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Gene Tanner and Daniel Thomas
