Desoto Lamar Pierce, age 86, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 29, 2021. He was a member of Leakesville First United Pentecostal Church. He worked with Caterpillar in Joliet, Illinois for 19 years and retired from Pierce Construction of Petal, Mississippi after 25 years. He enjoyed gardening and antique cars. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Larkin L. and Bessie Busby Pierce; brother, Authur Mac Pierce; son, Michael Ray Pierce; granddaughter, Stacy Lyn Pierce.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Mildred B. Pierce; sons, Gary Pierce of Leakesville, Mississippi and Ronzie (Linda) Pierce of Neely, Mississippi; daughter, Julie (Terry) Smith of Leakesville, Mississippi; daughter-in-law, Debbie Pierce of Leakesville, Mississippi; grandchildren, Jason, Misty, Derek, Dustin, Shana and Taylor; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Black; numerous other relatives and friends.
The Visitation for Lamar Pierce will be Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home Leakesville. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, June 2, 2021 beginning at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Irvis Dale Everette officiating. Burial will follow in Sweetwater Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jason Pierce, Derek Smith, Dustin Smith, Chase Barnes, Kyle Walley and Tracy Parker. Honorary Pallbearers include Charles Mason, Nelson Byrd, Brennen Pierce and Timmy Walley.
