Julia Anne Sutherland, age 74, passed away on June 14, 2026. She spent many years teaching in schools across Mississippi and touched the lives of countless students along the way. She also enjoyed teaching swimming and sharing that skill with others. Julia loved the outdoors and was happiest when she was fishing, camping, or simply enjoying nature. She was known for her kind heart, caring spirit, and the genuine way she treated everyone she met. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dan Gary Sutherland Jr. and Cora Alice Sutherland; and sister, Mary S. Tatum.

Those left to cherish her memory include her lifelong friend, Bunny Tanner; siblings, Jane (Joseph) O’Connell, Dan (Vivian) Sutherland, and Amy (Danny) Miller; numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.

The Memorial Service will be Thursday, June 18, 2026 beginning at 1:00 PM at Movella Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Joey Reus and Bro. Tony Cochran officiating. Graveside Service will follow in Movella Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Movella Missionary Baptist Church. Contributions may be mailed to 175 Movella Church Rd, Lucedale, Mississippi, 39452.
