John Malcolm Coltin Griffin

John Malcolm Coltin Griffin, age 29, passed away July 22, 2025. He was a 2014 graduate of East Central High School, where he was involved in the 4H and FFA. He loved fixing up his ole truck and farming. Anytime his uncle called about disking or bailing hay, he was in. He was employed at DJs restaurant, where he prepared the crab legs and seafood and worked construction a lot. He would help with landscaping from time to time with Mr. Mike Greer, whom he loved. He enjoyed spending time with his blue healers, Rowdy and Walker, and time outdoors hunting and fishing. He lost his dad at a young age, but he never forgot the lessons he taught him over the years. He was always willing to help anyone in need, often putting others before himself. He believed in the saying, “Never keep a good man down,” and lived by it daily.

He is preceded in death by his father, Max Wendell Griffin; maternal grandfather, Freddie Rush; paternal grandfather, Russell Griffin; paternal grandmother, Betty Griffin; step-grandfather, Guy Floore; Papa Robert Johnson and Nana Janice Mason.     

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Lori Rush (Mike) Johnson; maternal grandmother, Virginia Floore; Mawmaw Elaine Johnson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.        

The Visitation will be Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Donnie Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Shumock Cemetery. Pallbearers include JT Cronier, Jay Fletcher, Jeff Hudson, Nathanial Lewis, Lyle Alexander, and Devin Stamant. Honorary Pallbearers include Darrin Rush, Johnathan Rush, DJ Rush, Will Rush, Mike Greer, Nick Greer, Doug Mason, Braden Pitts, Mark Fletcher and Josh McCarra.  

In lieu of flowers, the family request any donations be made at Navigator Credit Union, where an account has been set up in Memory of John M. Griffin.
