Mr. John Franklin Maples passed away August 29, 2021 at the age of 70. He was a 1969 graduate of George County High School. He furthered his education at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He worked for Dunn Paper, Inc. in Wiggins over 42 years. He was a faithful member of Pinewood Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. He was a regular at the ballfield and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Winston Seal “Turp” Maples and Ruby Irene Price Maples; mother-in-law, Annie Octavia Howell Sumrall; nephew, Nathan Levi Goff.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Lynn Sumrall Maples; children, Shawna (Neal) Fairley and Ted (Sabrina) Maples; grandchildren, Chelsea (Justin) Littlefield, Cameron (Allison) Williams, Kylie Maples, Kayla Maples, Seth Fairley, Braxton Maples; great grandchild, Malachi Littlefield and one more on the way; siblings, Larry Seal (Gail) Maples, Glenda Goff and Gloria (Mark) Batson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Visitation for John Maples will be Friday, September 3, 2021 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, September 4, 2021 in the funeral home chapel beginning at 11:00 AM with Bro. Hoyt Clark and Bro. Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sumrall Cemetery. Pallbearers include his nephews, Daniel Maples, Jeffery Maples, Garrett Batson, Trevor Overstreet, Hank Overstreet, Collin Overstreet, Ben Ford, Tyrel Ford, Chase Ford, Quade Goff, Brandon Sumrall and Ethan Sumrall.
