Jimmy Friday Wright

Jimmy Friday Wright, age 91, passed away May 25, 2025. He proudly served in the United States Army in the Korean War. He worked as a Superintendent of maintenance in chemical plants and paper mills for many years. After his retirement, he took an interest in entrepreneurship in dealing with equipment sales, cars, horses, dogs, and other ventures. His great passion was the outdoors. He owned and operated Red Creek Kennels where he raised and trained bird dogs, including Boykin and English cocker spaniels. He was a loving husband, daddy, papa/big papa and greatly enjoyed time with his family.   

He is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia R. Wright; son, James Elvy Wright; grandson, Mitchell Todd Wright, Jr; parents, Felix James Wright and Pauline Sanderson Holt; stepfather, Curtis Lloyd Holt and stepmother, Lola Mae Wright; siblings, Bobbie Jack Wright, Kelly Dunn Wright, Sr., and Ralph Edward (Evelyn) Wright.        

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Mitchell Todd (Danyiele Schenk) Wright, Sr., Steven Glynn (Belinda) Wright, Sterling Scott (Cathy) Wright, Gregory Cleve (Melanie) Wright; daughter, Lorrie Virgina Wright; grandchildren, Jimmy Friday (Morgan) Wright, II, Ryan Scott Wright, Rorie Chase Wright, Dalton Schenk, Justin Scovel, Paula Michelle (Noah) Tynes, Virginia Christine Wright (Chase) Davis, Melania Virginia Wright, and Gregory Cleve Wright, Jr.; great grandchildren, Jaycen Todd Wright, Rylee Faith Wright, Rani Grace Wright, Noah Drake Tynes, Oaklynn Davis, and Blair Sterling Estelle Tynes; siblings, Walter Sanderson Wright, Sr., and Margarett Pauline Toups; sisters-in-law, Fannie Wright, Rosalie Wright, and Joyce Wright; special friends, Rosemary Baker, Tanita Wright Hornsby and Donna McWhorter; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the family Caregivers, Gail Falcon, Stephanie Hauler, Angela Holt, Debra Joiner, Darryl McCree, Katherine Jenkins, Jadaisia Jenkins, Ashante Deflanders, Kim Dewberry, and Zshakira Gibson.  

The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Moments Funeral Home beginning at 3:00 PM with Mike Wright officiating. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service. His final resting place will be Agricola Cemetery.
