Jean Havard Waldrip ,age 84, was born on November 30, 1941 to Carl and Maebelle Havard of Lucedale, MS. She passed away on July 21, 2026, at Forrest General Hospital.

Jean graduated from Rocky Creek High School in 1959, where she was elected Miss Rocky Creek High School, and was the salutatorian of her senior class. She went on to obtain her Bachelors and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a member of the USM marching band, playing the trombone. An avid reader and music lover, she also played the piano.

She was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church, where she served others faithfully until her health declined.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Maebelle Havard; her husband, William Waldrip; and her two sisters, Julia McLeod and Mary Ann Glover.

She is survived by her children, Penny (Kelby) Bufkin, of McLain, MS, and Jeff Waldrip of Salem, Oregon; four grandchildren, Raine Bufkin, Emma Bufkin, Claire Waldrip, and Nora Waldrip; two brothers, Carl Havard of Mobile, AL, and John Havard of Lucedale, MS.

The Visitation will be Monday, July 27, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Rocky Creek Baptist Church. The Funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Brasher officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers include Raine Bufkin, Fidele Marchioni, Ricky Summerlin, Mike Courtney, John Havard, and Carl Havard. Honorary Pallbearers include Dennis Frey, and Beverly Tanner’s Sunday school class.

The family would like to thank Greene County Health and Rehab, and Forrest General Hospital for their care and compassion for our mother. Mom frequently spoke of going home, we now take comfort that she has been made whole in her heavenly home.
