Jean Elizabeth Dickson Brantley, age 88, entered into eternal rest on April 26, 2026. She was a faithful member of First Church of Lucedale and held her faith close to her heart throughout her life. She was active in the Women’s Society of Christian Service, the Esther Kirkwood Circle, the Fellowship Sunday School class, and enjoyed singing in the choir. For many decades, she faithfully supported Salem Camp Meeting, holding dear the traditions, friendships, and faith it brought into her life. A graduate of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Cosmetology School, she was a talented cosmetologist and proud business owner who dedicated her life to serving others with both skill and kindness. She built a career centered on hard work, friendship, and making others feel their best. She also enjoyed fellowship through Friends on Wheels and the Red Hat Society. Her hobbies included playing bunco, bridge, and dominoes, as well as camping and spending cherished time with her friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Brownell “A.B.” Brantley; parents, Moffett Moore and Dora Plouse Dickson; daughter, Lisa Dawn Brantley Holliman.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dana and Rick McMullan, Carla and Jimmy Herrington, and Andy Brantley; grandchildren, Krista and Gabe Howell, Brantley and Erin Fryfogle, Taylor and John Rouse, Josh McMullan, Cory and Haylee Havard, Ashton and Joe Tunstall, Andrea Holliman, and Leeanna and Paul Cone; great grandchildren, Case Howell, Karlee Faurot, Brody Howell, Cayler Havard, Gracen Fryfogle, Dru McCormick, Mary Katherine Brasel, Blake Rouse, Wes Havard, Lilly Mizell, Marley McMullan, Walter Cone, Caroline Tunstall, and Margaret Tunstall; sister, Peggy and Jimmy Pursell; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and all those who knew her as Mama Jean.
The Visitation will be Wednesday, April 29, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 30, 2026 beginning at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel officiated by Bro. David Newton. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Pallbearers include Case Howell, Brody Howell, Cayler Havard, Gracen Fryfogle, Wes Havard, Brantley Fryfogle and Cory Havard.
