James Ronald Pryne, affectionately referred to as “Ronnie,” was welcomed to his Heavenly
home on January 29, 2025, at the age of 68. Ronnie was born on August 8, 1956, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and attended Leakesville High School. After a brief stent at Jones County Community College, Ronnie decided to enlist in the Navy and was stationed in Pensacola, Florida, before getting to dip his toes in the Pacific Ocean during his San Diego, California, assignment. After leaving, he used his skills as an electronic technician to transition to an electrician in civilian life. Ronnie was quick to return to his roots in his home state after years of traveling. Here, it was hard to find him anywhere other than in a tree stand or on a boat. He was a true outdoorsman and loved relaxing in God’s Creation, especially when done with friends and family. He was a simple man who enjoyed simple things. His love of the woods and the water never vanished, and he was his best self when found among them.
He is prceded in death by his loving parents, Alma Sue Robertson and James Pryne, as well as his life partner, Donna Lynn Jones.
He is survived by his stepson, Gabriel Velasco (Claudine) of Lyons, Michigan; stepdaughter, Jodi Montoya (Sheena) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; honorary stepson, Scott Mashburn (Eula) of New Orleans, Louisiana; honorary stepdaughter, Merry Deemy of Ellisville, Mississippi; significant other, Angelia Hulsey of State Line, Mississippi; brother, David Pryne (Alicia) of Collins, Mississippi; stepbrother, Lynn Robertson (Tammy) of Leakesville, Mississippi; stepsister, Scharlotte Fortinberry (Kevin) of Leakesville, Mississippi; nieces, Devon Williams (Brett) of Sumrall, Mississippi and Woodsen Pryne of Collins, Mississippi; grandchildren and honorary grandchildren, Josh Deemy (Bethany) of Ellisville, Mississippi, Hannah Breland (Travis) of Petal, Mississippi, Ashley McNeil (Brandon) of Buckatunna, Mississippi, Dustin Mashburn of Buckatunna, Mississippi, Ericka Roberts of Buckatunna, Mississippi, and Robert Velasco of Lyons, Michigan; a host of cousins, great grandchildren, other family members, and friends.
In alignment with his preferences and in lieu of a funeral service, a private celebration of life will be held by the family at a later date.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:4
