James Austin, Jr. Obituary

James Lee Austin, Jr., age 78, passed away January 18, 2025. He was a 1965 graduate of St. Stanislaus in Bay St. Louis. He proudly served in the Army National Guard. He worked as a Pneumatics Instrumentation Supervisor for Thompson Equipment in New Orleans for over 32 years. He owned and operated Ja-Lynn Sounds, a DJ service, and frequented school fundraisers, community functions, and weddings. After retirement, he spent time enjoying many hobbies including wood working, fishing, playing Santa Claus, and supporting his grandchildren at their social and sporting events. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and dear friend.                       

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Austin, Sr. and Beatrice Gertrude Chiniche Austin; nephew, Chad LaFontaine; beloved pet, Jimmy’s Deere Dozer.  

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Marie Lynette Austin; children, Heather Austin (Chris) Walmsley, Tyler Leigh Austin (Rob) Weir, Ledier Austin (Brandon) Walker, and Priscilla Austin (Josh) Banashak; grandchildren, Brandon (Katy), Ashtyn and Gregory Walmsley, Madelyn and Cooper Weir, Austin, Braydon and Carson Walker, Jansen and Harper “JoJo” Banashak; great grandchildren, Christopher and Evelynn Walmsley; siblings, Sylvia (Ronald) LaFontaine, Chris Austin, Patricia Titus, and father, Michael Austin; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.            

The family will hold services at a later date.
