Herbert Elwood Breland

Herbert Elwood Breland, age 76, passed away September 17, 2023 at USA Hospital in Mobile, Alabama surrounded by his family. Born March 23, 1947 in Mobile, Alabama, he was a retired poultry grower of Marshal Durbin for 40 years. He enjoyed gardening, meeting people, buying and selling collectibles and setting up at different festivals and barn sales. He loved his family and enjoyed those grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather who will be missed.      

He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Gavin, Sr. and Elnora Breland; maternal grandparents, Rufus and Annie Courtney; maternal grandmother, Viola Williams Courtney;  paternal grandparents, Charlie and Ottice Breland; brother, Sammy Breland, Jr.   

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Linda Childers Breland; son, Austin (Sissy) Breland; daughter, Carmen (Fiancé, David Quinn) Breland; grandchildren, Magan (Ken) Cockes, Jacob (Taylor) Breland, Thomas (Tayza) Breland and Jessie (Bracie) Breland; great grandchildren, Cooper  Cockes, Tanner Cockes, McKenly Breland, Austin-Wayne Breland, Forrest Breland and Fisher Breland.     

The Visitation will be Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Unity Baptist church. The Funeral Service will begin in the sanctuary beginning at 12:00 PM with Bro. Bill Burke and Bro. Walter Mixon officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers include Jacob Breland, Thomas Breland, Jessie Breland, Joshua Bradley, Noah Bradley and Allan Williams. Honorary Pallbearers include Jeff Koger, Robert Perry and Trey Zdenek, III.
