Henry C. "Jim" Hobby Obituary

Henry Crawford “Jim” Hobby, age 85, passed away on April 11, 2026. Jim was a man who found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. He loved playing the guitar and singing alongside his brothers, creating memories filled with music and laughter. A dedicated worker, he spent over 40 years at Moss Point Marine, where he served as a respected Machinist and Foreman.


Jim had a deep love for the outdoors and cherished time spent at his camp, especially fishing. He was a proud member of Masonic Lodge 430 and past President of the Shriners, holding those brotherhoods close to his heart. He also had a passion for classic cars, owning, driving, and working on them.


Family meant everything to Jim. He played a vital role in organizing and hosting the annual family reunions, bringing loved ones together year after year. Known as a devoted caretaker, he was always there when someone needed him. With his warm personality and kind spirit, Jim truly never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.


He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Havard Hobby; son, Jeff Hobby; great granddaughter, Makayla Busby; parents, J.B. Hobby and Lizzie Havard Hobby; siblings, Wanda Jean Hobby Buckhalter, Mary Lou “Lou Lou” Hobby Cooper, Joellen Moore, and Vicky Lynn Moody Owen. 


Those left to cherish his memory include his long time, loving companion, Jean Jones; children, Linda H. (Frank) Busby, and Christine Hobby (Eamonn) Benson; grandchildren, Deshonda (Sean) Richardson, Frank Busby, Jr., Robert (Adriana) Busby, Tasha (Paul) Bosarge, Craig Miller, Haley Benson, and Kelly Benson; 12 great grandchildren, two great-great grandsons; siblings, Billy Hobby, Anthony “Bug” (Kathy) Hobby, Ann Havard, Carolyn “Cheat” Davis, Pat (Louis) Shoemaker, Sally (Lee Roy) Colburn, Martha Johnston, and Judy Hobby; other loving family members, Crissy (George) Hamilton, Aleshia Dye, Ray Crawford, Sophia Hamilton, Dawson Dye, and Stacy Crawford; numerous other relatives and friends.            


The Visitation will be Tuesday, April 14, 2026 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday, April 15,2026 beginning at 11:00 AM at Moments Funeral Home with Bro. Wyatt Busby officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with pallbearers including Frank Busby, Sr., Eamonn Benson, Frank Busby, Jr., Robert Busby, Craig Miller, and George Hamilton.
