George Edward Smith

George Edward Smith, age 75, passed away September 9, 2024. George was in the Army and fought in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1971. He was an avid square dancer, loved being outdoors and hunting.  He loved estate sales and finding a good bargain. He was a “collector” of many things. He retired from UMMC as a lab technician.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harmon and Opal Smith; brother, W. M. Smith; sister, Betty Stevens; son, Jonathan Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory include his niece, Christie (Shaun) Baker; nephews, Steve (Donna) Harford, and Donald (Jattie) Harford; as well as several great nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. 

The Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Sharon Community Cemetery in Laurel, MS at 1:00 PM.
