Gary Smith Obituary

Gary Wayne Smith, age 75, passed away January 1, 2023. He proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He greatly enjoyed reading and spending time on vacations with his family and friends. He also enjoyed operating his Ham Radio. He was a member of First Centenary United Methodist Church of Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he married the love of his life, Betsy Churchwell Ozborn. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend who will be greatly missed.    

He is preceded in death by his parents, Major Raymond Martin Smith and Helen Smude Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Betsy Smith; daughters, Vicky Smith of Sweetwater, Tennessee, Mendy Smith of Houston, Texas; Lisa Ozborn (Mark) McMillian of Lucedale; son, Samuel Ozborn of Lucedale; brother-in-law Gavin Churchwell of Lucedale; niece, Tracy Churchwell (Eddie) Harwood of Lucedale; brothers, Ron Smith and Bruce Smith both of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Gavin Ozborn of Ringgold, Georgia and Izabell Ozborn of Chattanooga, Tennessee; dear friends from Ringgold, Georgia, Marilyn and Tommy Southerland; numerous other relatives and friends.    

The Celebration of Life will be Saturday, January 7, 2023 beginning at 10:00 AM at Moments Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Morris officiating.
