Evanna Ruth Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Evanna Ruth, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left us peacefully on Dec 18 one day before her 80th birthday.  Born on Dec 19,1944 in Jennings, LA, Evanna touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.

As a proud Navy wife, Evanna embraced the challenges of military life with grace and resilience. She exemplified what it meant to be a partner, always standing by her husband and nurturing her family with a love that knew no bounds. Stationed at eight commands around the world, Evanna always made their house feel like a home.

Evanna was a gentle soul who found joy in the little things—sharing laughter with her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren.  Evanna cherished every moment spent with her family. Her home was a sanctuary filled with love, laughter, and a year-round Christmas spirit.  The entire family loved to visit and spend time with their Nana and family gatherings became treasured memories.  When her health failed her, and she was unable to travel, Evanna had daily video calls with her children and grandchildren.

Her kindness extended beyond her family; Evanna was a friend to many and her compassion and empathy made a lasting impact on her community. She spent many hours serving the RAFT (Retired Adult Fun Time) program in her church community. She will be remembered for her strong faith, selfless spirit and the light she brought into the lives of others.

Evanna is survived by her loving husband, Charles M. Ruth, Jr. (Chuck), her three children Laura Darden (husband Dewey), Charles M. Ruth III (Tripp), Wesley Ruth (wife Marsha); her seven grandchildren Alaina Darden Shoemaker (husband Matthew), Alyssa Darden; Kathryn May (husband Andrew), Marie Reape (husband Mark), James Ruth, Hunter Rhymes, Peyton Ruth, and her seven great-grandchildren Mia Shoemaker, Monroe Shoemaker, Ian May, Rachael May, Eli May, Luna Munoz Darden, Iyla Munoz Darden. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire us all. She also is survived by her three siblings Ronnie Jester (predeceased by wife Pauline), Charlotte Dickson (husband Richie), Arnie Jester (wife Eleanor).

Evanna was proceeded in death by her parents James Allen Jester (Jay) and Azalea Gravelle Jester.
