Funeral services will be held for Elsie Hogue Magers, 89, of Lucedale on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 12 noon at Moments Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Go Forth Memorial Garden with Bro. B.J. Hudson and Bro. Zach Dant officiating the services.
She was born December 3, 1931 in Ratliff, Itawamba County. A talented seamstress, quilter, and gardener who provided well for her family, a graduate of Southeastern Baptist College with an A.A. degree, and a faithful preacher’s wife for 58 years, she died August 28, 2021 in Movella.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Rev. Milford Magers; son-in-law David Morgan; grandson Eric Magers; parents Troy Lesley Hogue Sr. and Beulah Turner Hogue; siblings Gene Lesley Hogue, Irene Bruff and Dean Hogue; and great-grandmother Lucinda J. “Sendie” Hogue.
She is survived by her son Phillip (Pat) Magers of Agricola; daughters Phillis Morgan of Movella and Pamela (Donald) Phillips of Anguilla; adopted daughter Susie Crabtree of Movella; grandchildren Donavon (Christy) Phillips of Morton, Rebekah McClelland of Conway, Ark., Cherish Hearn of Redding, Calif., Jonathan Morgan of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Rachel (Steve) Osborne of Craig, Colo.; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; siblings Lamois Hinds of Ratliff, Nelda (Jimmy) Pearce of Mantachie and Troy Lesley (Shelia) Hogue Jr. of Ratliff; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be son Phillip Magers; grandsons Donavon Phillips and Jonathan Morgan; and great-grandsons Jordan McClelland, Braxton McClelland and Colby Phillips. Honorary pallbearer is Donald Phillips.
