Elsie Mae (Byrd) Dixon Obituary
Elsie Mae Byrd Dixon, age 89, passed away peacefully at her residency on August 9, 2025. After graduating from Basin High School, she began a long career in banking and finance with the Bank of Lucedale, now known as Century Bank. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a talented seamstress. She could sew, embroidery, upholstery and construct anything. She was also a talented artist who created beautiful paintings. Her greatest joy was time with family and traveling the country with her husband. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Archie Dixon; parents, Carlie and Carrie Byrd; sister, Betty Byrd Hudson.
Those left to cherish his memory include her children, Debbie (Doug) Goodman, Rita (Michael) Gwin and Archie O’Neal (Marcia) Dixon, Jr.; grandchildren, Marcus Renick Pridmore, Jason Bradley (Bethany) Pridmore, Emily Hope (John Michael) Horlock, Sara Elizabeth (Elliott) Daniel and Ryan Michael (Danielle) Gwin; great grandchildren, Kipton Walker Gwin, River Ryan Gwin, John Archie Horlock, Noelle Alexis Gwin, and Aubrey Faye Pridmore; numerous other relatives and friends.
The Visitation for Elsie Dixon will be Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Eddie Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Refuge Methodist Church cemetery. Pallbearers include Terry Dixon, Donald Dixon, Ryan Gwin, John Michael Horlock, Elliott Daniel, Wayne Dixon, and Wesley Miller.
