Donnie Howell

Donnie Howell, age 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was a 1969 graduate of George County High School. He furthered his education at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College where he played football and baseball. He then attended Samford University, where he also played football and was a member of the National Championship team of 1972. He received his Master’s Degree from William Carey College in Education. He served the George County School district in many areas. He served as Football Coach, Teacher, Assistant Principal and Superintendent of Education for many years. He was also a faithful member of Pinegrove Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and led singing. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #430. He was a devoted husband, best dad and grandfather ever, loving brother and friend who will be greatly missed.           

He is preceded in death by his parents, James Wilson and Gelene Taylor Howell.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 51 years, Ginger Howell; children, Carissa (Clay) Wedgeworth and Brett Howell; grandchildren, Jackson Howell, Dayleigh Howell, Nicholas Wedgeworth and Nathan Wedgeworth; siblings, Jimmy (Norma) Howell and Alice Ann (Gary) Jones; loving pet, Gabby; numerous other relatives and friends.   

The Visitation for Donnie Howell will be Monday, April 10, 2023 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Jimmy Howell and Bro. Mark Warden officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Pallbearers include Lance Reid, Kevin Howell, Jeffery Jones, Joey Jones, Nicholas Wedgeworth and Jackson Howell.
