Donald Ray, lovingly known as “Pappy” by his family and friends, wanted everyone who knew and loved him to know how grateful he was for the life he lived and the people who made it so special.
He was especially thankful for the many friendships and connections he cherished throughout his life. A proud member of the MPHS Class of 1964, he greatly enjoyed staying connected with his classmates and looked forward to meeting them for breakfast in recent years. He also valued his coworkers from Continental Can Company, M&D Construction and the Dynachem Corporation, treasuring the friendships built along the way.
Donald found joy in simple pleasures—fishing, hunting, meaningful conversations, and time spent with his pastors, church family, and dear friends and neighbors, including Brandon Stringfellow and family, and the Gulf Coast Bible Camp.
A man of faith, he was saved on February 15, 1976, a decision that remained central to his life and legacy.
He maintained close connections with many throughout the years, including his beloved cousins from the Webb, Teer, and Alan families, who were an important part of his life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who cared for him in his final days, including Enhabit Home Health, especially Jennifer Broadus; Gentiva Hospice, including Bailey, Ashton, Susanne, Molette, Chaplin Hembree, Beth, and Debbie; as well as Tender Care caregivers Sonya, Destiny, Allie, Angela, Madison, and Whitney.
His life was marked by gratitude, faith, and deep love for those around him, and he will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by parents, Lavern and Ruby Fulton; Brother and sister-in-law, Morris and Glenice Fulton; maternal grandmother, Vernie Teer; Aunt, Nelly Teer; In-laws, Fred and Ida Mae Carter, Joy Fulton, Mike and Fredna Vice, and Shelia Carter; Nieces, Tara McDonough and Megan Guerra; grandson, Ethan Neal Daugherty.
