Donald Cochran Obituary

Donald Cochran, age 71, passed away on March 22, 2026.  He was a 1972 graduate of George County High School. He dedicated over five decades to Cochran Brothers Construction, leaving behind a lasting legacy through the many homes he built across the community. He worked for countless wonderful people and always said it was the customers who kept the job alive.

He spent many hours on the ballfield coaching Dixie Youth Baseball, mentoring not only his son but the entire community. He also had a deep love for farming—baling countless bales of hay, tending a large garden, and growing many acres of corn. He was always dreaming of more land for even more corn. A skilled and passionate cook, he took pride in preparing meals for family and friends.

A faithful member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, he served as a deacon for many years. Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, and brother, a true pillar of his community, whose kindness and dedication touched many lives.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Shelly Cochran; parents, Johnny Harold Cochran and Betty Lou Cochran; brother, Kimble Alan Cochran; father-in-law, James Whittington.

Those left to cherish his memory includes his son, Luke Cochran; daughter, Whitney (Clint) Baker; granddaughter, Presley Baker; siblings, David Cochran, Carroll (Beth) Cochran and Kevin (Tracy) Cochran; mother-in-law, Nancy Whittington; sisters-in-law, Glenda Cochran and Kelly (Johnny) Smart; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other friends.
