Derrick Ray Havard, age 34, passed away April 10, 2025. He was a 2010 Graduate of East Central High School and continued his education at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He received his bachelor’s degree from William Carey College in Music Education. He greatly enjoyed his job teaching at Crestwood Elementary School in Meridian. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and dear friend to so many.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bud and Nell Leonard; paternal grandparents, Elvis and Betty Havard; aunts and uncles, Wayne Havard, Karri Welch, Donnie Leonard, and Karl Leonard.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Karen and Tommy Havard; brother, Justin (Rhiannon Lucas) Havard; nieces, Alyse Havard and Jesslynn Havard; aunts and uncles, Larry (Audrey) Havard, Janice Mason, Ramona Havard, Robert (Beverly) Leonard, and Kelly Leonard; grandmother, Doris Havard; numerous other relatives and friends.
The Visitation will be Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Les Pierce and Matt Ditsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Barton Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jason Couch, Zach Hearndon, John Micheal Jordan, Bobby Scarbrough, Ernie Havard, Jonathon Leonard. Honorary Pallbearer will be Alex Havard.
