David Walters, age 75, passed away April 29, 2025. He retired in 2009 after 40 years at Ingalls Shipbuilding as a dry dock welder. He was an avid fisherman and greatly enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and traveling with his family. Most importantly, he loved to pick fun at and spend time with his family and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his son, Danny Walters; parents, J D Walters and Etta Cowart Walters; sister, Laree Howell; brother, Ken Walters; and nephew, Ryan Harrison.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of over 56 years, Marie Walters; daughter, Angie (Sam) Richardson; daughter-in-law, Tressa Walters; grandchildren, Michael (Jill) Richardson, James (Lindsey) Richardson, Jonathon (Mikayla) Richardson, Alicia (Zack) Pace, Sammy (Chloe) Richardson, Lauren (Drew) Kirkwood, Breanna Walters, and Nathan Walters; great grandchildren, Charlie, Charlotte, Clara, Leslie, Liam, and Rhett; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The visitation will be Friday, May 2, 2025 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Tommy Mitchell and Bro. Ricky Hathorn officiating. Graveside will follow in Wilmer Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Michael Richardson, James Richardson, Jonathon Richardson, Sammy Richardson, Nathan Walters, and Drew Kirkwood. Honorary Bearers include, Larry Harrison, Sam Richardson, Wallace Dixon, and John Brendan.
