Darrell Thomen passed away March 17, 2020 at the age of 68. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for many years. After retirement, he worked as the dietician and food service personnel for George County Regional Correctional Facility. He also taught VoTech courses through Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College at the facility. He was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church and was a talented Handyman who enjoyed passing his knowledge on to others. His words of advice and encouragement will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Enid Thomen and niece, Taylor Thompson.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Stephanie Box Thomen; son, Don (Anna) Thomen; stepson, John (Ashley) Hamblin; grandchildren, Cindy (Dustin) Harrell, Dawn (Ryan) Timmons, Elizabeth Thomen, Abby Thomen, and Eric Thomen; great grandchild, Holly Meuret; siblings, Gary (Carolyn) Thomen, Larry (Cynthia) Thomen, Roger Thomen, Brenda (Ron) Willett and Debra Thomen; numerous other relatives and friends.
The Visitation Service for Mr. Darrell Thomen will be Friday, March 20, 2020 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Union Missionary Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 21, 2020 beginning at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Jason Matheny and Bro. Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Union Missionary Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers include Jacob Braxton, Robbie Braxton, Roger Cook, Gary Thomen, Larry Thomen and Roger Thomen. Honorary pallbearer will be Raymond Smith.
