Darnell Latham Minyard, of Lucedale, MS passed from this life on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at age 75. He was born on September 24, 1944 in Holcomb, MS to Orner and Norma Lee Minyard. He loved watching Nascar and football and he loved spending time with his family. He loved making the people around him laugh with old stories and jokes. He pastored Dykes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Richton, MS for 19 years, Canaan Missionary Baptist Church in Lucedale, MS for 7 years, Pilgram’s Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Leakesville, MS for 5 years and ended his ministry of 2 years at Bible Baptist Church in Ovett, MS. He was first and foremost, a humble and godly man who loved Jesus Christ and the Word of God. He was a man of prayer. He loved preaching and teaching the gospel to anyone who crossed his path. Secondly, he was a loving husband, Darnell and Jean Minyard were married on February 27, 1965 and spend 55 years together. Thirdly, he was the most loving and kind father and grandfather. He worked hard his entire life to provide a good life for his family.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Orner and Norma Lee Minyard; brothers, Roy Sims, Jr. and Larry Minyard.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Minyard; children, Bobby (Lisa) Minyard, Dawn Pipkins, Jennifer (Jason) Patrick, Blaine (Stephanie) Minyard; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Glenda Sansing; numerous other relatives and friends.
The Visitation for Darnell Minyard will be Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Canaan Missionary Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with Dr. Cary Kimbrell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
