Danford Whittington, Jr Obituary

Danford L. Whittington Jr., age 67, went home to be with the Lord on December 28, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his loving family. A graduate of East Central High School, Danford later retired from the Jackson County Road Department after 28 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in fishing along the Dog River. Danford also enjoyed working in his garden, and he generously shared the fruits of his labor with friends and members of the community. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle. He was a cherished staple in the community and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, D. L.  and Pearline Whittington; parents-in-law, Cleveland and Odean Cumbest; daughter, Buffie Porter; nephew, Corey Jordan.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carla Whittington; children, Rustin (Keisha) Porter and Jason (Heidi) Porter; grandchildren, Jade Porter, Haydn Porter, Kylie Porter, John Rustin Porter, Hollis Porter, and Bailey Clark; sisters, Jean (Walt) Goff and Renee (Stacey) Jordan; brother-in-law, Doug (Sheila) Spencer; nieces and nephews, Meagan (Nate) Brewer, Morgan (Logan) Cumbest, Mallory (Josh) Shows, Collin (Kaley) Jordan and Anna (Kyle) Armstrong; great nieces and nephews, Case Brewer, Cohen Brewer, Barrett Shows, Baylor Shows, Briggs Cumbest, Brady Cumbest, Talon Jordan, Brooks Armstrong and Madelyn Armstrong.

The Visitation will be Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at Full Life Church from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM.  The Funeral service will begin at 6:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Jimbo Reed officiating.  Burial will be in Coleman Whittington Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Hollis Porter, Haydn Porter, John Rustin Porter, Nate Brewer, Collin Jordan, Josh Shows, Logan Cumbest, and Bailey Clark. Honorary Pallbearers include Johnathan Baum, David Whittington, Tom White, and Dennis Clark.
