DJ Seymour Obituary
DJ Seymour, age 40, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 2, 2026, after a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
DJ was a devoted wife, loving mother, faithful daughter, cherished sister, and steadfast Christian whose life reflected kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand, often placing the needs of others before her own. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and genuine love for people left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her.
Gifted with many talents, DJ enjoyed crafting, singing, and took great pride in everything she did. Whether creating something beautiful with her hands, encouraging someone with a kind word, or simply spending time with those she loved, she brought joy and warmth wherever she went.
A former member of Avery Church of God, DJ faithfully taught Sunday School before becoming a dedicated member of Cornerstone Full Gospel Church. Her love for the Lord was evident in the way she lived each day, serving others with humility, grace, and a servant’s heart. Her greatest joy was serving the Lord by loving her family and caring for others, and her beautiful faith will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched. Though her time on earth was far too short, the legacy of her faith, love, and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Wynema Smith and Wyatt Carlton “W.C.” Smith, and her maternal grandparents, Shirley and Rex Coxwell.
Left to cherish her precious memory are her beloved husband, Larry Seymour; her children, Damion (Preston) Barrett, Malakye (Emilee) Seymour, Sailon Seymour, Bella Seymour, and Luca Coxwell; her parents, Don Rue Smith and Cornelia Rexann Coxwell; her sister and best friend, Amy Smith Austein; her cherished sisters by love, Shelby (Braden) Booth and Maria (Jacob) Creel ; her cherished brothers by love, Justin (Faith) Brondum and Derrick (Devin) Brondum; Kimberly and Daniel Brondum, who embraced and loved her as one of their own; her Aunt and mentor, Jean Tillman; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends during the Visitation on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Cornerstone Full Gospel Church. The Funeral Service, a celebration of DJ’s life, will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary with Bro. Don Fulmer and Bro. Broc Walley officiating. Interment will follow at Mutual Rights Cemetery.
