Clay Alexander Schultz Obituary

Clay Alexander Schultz, 53, passed peacefully shortly after noon on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.

Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Clay was a gifted musician, entrepreneur, and lifelong learner. He fought a courageous two-year battle to recover from complications of a “routine” medical procedure, facing his trial with remarkable grace, humor, and courage.

Clay had a lifelong passion for drums, tennis, and marketing. He laughed easily and often. His kindness and quick wit could brighten even the darkest day. A creative spirit and problem-solver, he devoted much of his energy to helping others see possibility where others saw limitation.

Though he endured great suffering, Clay never complained. He was prepared for death but not ready to die — he longed to keep living, playing music, and spending time with those he loved. He met death with calm faith, stepping boldly into the light of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his brother, John Schultz of Jackson, Mississippi; his sister, Lynn Schultz, also of Jackson; and a host of family members and friends who loved him dearly.

The Visitation will be Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Vernal Presbyterian Church, 455 McInnis Vernal Road, Lucedale, Mississippi 39452, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. The Funeral Service will follow 12:00 PM with Pastor Ken Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Green Cemetery.

A celebration of Clay’s life will be held at a later date.

The family takes comfort in knowing that Clay is reunited with many loved ones who have gone before him — gathered together at “The Great Fish Fry in the Sky.”

Moments Funeral Home, locally owned and operated, is honored to be in charge of arrangements.
