Charlie Brown Obituary

Charlie James Brown, age 80, passed away July 9, 2024. He was a 1964 graduate of Rocky Creek High School where he played football and served as class President. He worked hard providing for his family as Supervisor in the Oil Industry and became known as “Overtime Charlie.” He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He served the congregation in many ways including Treasurer and groundskeeping and maintenance department. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, friend to many who will miss him greatly.                 

He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffery Chadwick Brown; parents, Buddy and Marie Brown; sister, Alma McLeod; parents-in-law, Van Owen and Mavis Welford. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of almost 50 years; Carolyn Welford Brown; son, James Owen (LeeAnn) Brown; grandchildren, Erin Brown, Collin (Logan) Brown, and Zach Brown; great grandson, Owen Tate Brown; siblings, Linda Kaye (Spencer) Holland, Dan (Rosemary) Brown, and Rita Ann (Daniel) Prine; other relatives and friends.         

The Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will begin in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM with Bro. Jerry Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Hyatt-Rounsaville Cemetery.
