Charles E. "Kangaroo" Welford

Charles E. “Kangaroo” Welford, age 83, passed away May 31, 2024. He was a 1961 graduate of Leakesville High School. He was a member of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a simple father, friend and pawpaw who will be missed.          

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Welford Griffin; parents, James “Jim” and Oneida Crocker Welford; brother, James Marvin Welford; sister, Augustine Carter.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, David (Susan) Welford, and Sam Welford; siblings, Jimmy (Beth) Welford, Ollie (Joyce) Welford, Joyce (Bill) Newton, Sue Cherry, and Ann (Bill) Wilmoth; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.  

The Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Moments Funeral Home, Leakesville. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Steve Howell officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah United Pentecostal Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include Marvin Ray Welford, Meryle Cochran, Dawson Cochran, Jim Coleman, James Maddox, and Patrick Lowe. Honorary Pallbearers include Kevin Griffin, Marc Griffin, and Josh Coleman.
