Charles Curry Obituary

Charles Louis Curry, 76, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on September 28, 2024. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was of the Baptist faith and a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran who proudly served during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Ranger. He was a chemical operator and maintenance worker for 24 years. The job he loved the most, and was most proud of, was working maintenance for the U.S. National Park Service in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, where he retired in 2010.

He loved the outdoors. Bass fishing was one of his favorite pastimes.  He was also an avid deer hunter. But his favorite thing was spending time with his family, usually sitting on his back porch with a cup of coffee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John D. and Norma E. Curry; and grandson, Robert Allen.

Those left to cherish his memory include the love of his life, and wife of 56 years, Kietha J. Curry; children, Randal (Sherri) Curry, Mollie (Paul) Reeves, and J.T. (Tracy) Curry; grandchildren, Maghan (Austin) Alexander, Kayci (Melvin) Dixon, T.C. Mazingo, Tristan Mazingo, Lane (April) Curry, Kristen Ezell, Donovan (Erica) Fore, Amanda (Martin) Hathorn, and Brandon (Jordyn) Duggan; children he raised as his own, James Roy Kennedy, and Derek (Elizabeth) Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Maranda, Maddison, Julian, Norah, Elijah, Lilly, Kaisen, Nicholas, Kenzleigh, Zach, and Colby; brother, Johnny Curry, sister-in-law, Lori Duggan; brothers-in-law, Tim (Tammy) Kennedy and L.C. (Jeanette) Kennedy; nephews, Joshua Kennedy, Mark Curry, and Rick Lemons; nieces Hannah Kennedy, Beth King, Stacy Curry, and Debbie Dailey; and a host of other family and friends.
